The Astorian Wedding Photos

We at Desert Rose Wedding Photography LOVE photographing weddings at The Astorian. The Astorian is a beautiful catering hall located in downtown Houston at 2500 Summer St, Houston, TX 77007.

This remarkable venue comes fully equipped with 14-foot ceilings. The concrete floors are best described as industrial chic.

This bi-level facility equipped with rusted steel, brushed aluminum, combined with soft lighting adds a special touch of luxury to our event. All of our brides loved this venue.

The Astorian Wedding Photographer

This wedding venue has many locations to create beautiful wedding photographs. The main ballroom is beautiful and spacious enough to fit over 300 guests in your reception.

The image that is featured here is one of our favorites. Not only because the bride and groom were stunning. But because they were beautiful inside and out. They allowed us to do what we do best, and that is to create modern and candid wedding photography for them on their wedding day.

We started off at the mother-of-the-brides house where we took creative detail photos of the bride's wedding dress, wedding bands, engagement ring, and veil.

I love taking photos at the beginning of the day of the bride getting her bridal makeup applied. It sets the tone of the day and allows us to be creative while still getting candid wedding photos.

We were also able to capture some candid moments of the bride with her maid of honor prior to her ceremony.

Some of my favorite wedding photos to take are of the bride alone. Just before we leave the house, I love using the veil to get creative images.

I always try to enlist the help the mother of the bride, or one of the bridesmaids in helping the bride to get ready. This allows the bride to relax which makes her getting ready photos more natural-looking.

Real Weddings at The Astorian

When we are photographing your ceremony, we take a more candid approach. I love capturing emotional photos of the parents of the bride and groom as they watch there babies get married.

These moments are timeless, precious and too important not photograph with the utmost care and consideration.

Moments like the little looks the bride gives her soon to be husband as they are holding hands on the altar are why I became a Houston Wedding Photographer.

After the ceremony, we photographed the fun bridal party photos, traditional family portraits and romantic photos of the bride and groom together.

When we arrived at the venue, we started capturing some fun bridal party photos as well as traditional family portraits.

I used The Astorian's inside ceremony space for the bridal party photos. The large windows made a for beautiful light and airy images. I then used the huge wall mirror clock to create some romantic images of the bride & groom together.

We use a variety of photography styles on every wedding, natural light gives you a light and airy feel, while off-camera flash allows us to capture more creative wedding photos.

The Astorian in Houston Wedding Inspiration Photos

After all of the must-have wedding photos have been taken, we photograph the details of the reception while the bride and groom goto there a cocktail hour.

I photograph the wedding cake, the card box, the centerpieces, we even like to take photos of the menu, sometimes it has the bride and groom's names on it, along with the wedding date, which is a nice little detail to add to your wedding album.

The Astorian has a fantastic reception room. Their main ballroom is quite impressive. They have walls of windows, that make for great photos, especially when the sun is setting through them in the evening.

Once the cocktail hour is over we then go into the reception formalities, we to photograph this part of the day very candidly.

We start with the entrance of the bridal party, family as well as the bride and groom. Then, depending on the structure of the day, we either move straight into the first dance or go into a dance set.

Depending on your style of wedding, some couples like to do all of the formalities at the beginning of the reception. The formalities being, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance as well as cake cutting. There is no wrong answer, it just depends on how you would like your day to be structured.
